In 2010 Javelin became one of the most exciting indie artists of the year. Hailed by The LA Times to have "the incredible ability to create music that makes you happy", Pitchfork credited "their random eccentricities and dollar bin gold" as "first-hand art." Following their debut album No Más, NY Times's John Caramanica called them "one of the most thoughtful, and promising young bands of the last couple of years." Their remarkable spaghetti-western short movie and country-western soundtrack , Canyon Candy, followed in 2011, and collaborations with everyone from Neon Indian and Lucky Dragons, to G-Side and Tom Zé.
Hi Beams is their highly anticipated second full length album on Luaka Bop and represents a more holistic approach to writing and recording. Lyrics and vocal harmonies are for the first time fore- grounded in decidedly songlike forms, while songs are made to be performed in concert rather than as a patchwork of fragmented if glittery shards.
